Why Jump!

Out of a perfectly good aeroplane?

Who really knows the answer to that one?
Ask most skydivers and they will tell you it’s fun; the adrenalin buzz is unbelievable; there are so many challenging things to try; it’s such an unbelievable 3D floating adventure; it’s just like your dreams of flying; it’s the ultimate feeling of freedom and abandonment, it’s total commitment, it’s, it’s…

Well, we’re not entirely sure ourselves, but next time someone asks you at a party, you can leave them to their imagination with a short one-liner:

  1. I was pushed!
  2. Who said it was ‘perfectly good?’
  3. I thought it was the door to the toilet.
  4. Did I have a choice in the matter?
  5. It was my calling.
  6. (Actually it was my instructor calling - and pushing!!)
  7. I didn’t actually jump - I crawled to the door shaking with fear.
  8. You would have too if they served you that food.
  9. I’d seen that movie 3 times already.
  10. Everyone’s entitled to one mistake in their lives.
  11. I always wanted to scream out ‘Geronimo’ and really mean it.
  12. It was a present from my friends - I couldn’t let them down.
  13. I was sure the plane had come to a full stop with the seat belt light off.
  14. Damn Hosties forgot to ‘cross-arm’ the doors again (or whatever it is they do).
  15. I’d watched Point Break one time too many.

Someone once said: "If at first you don’t succeed…don’t try Skydiving" (or writing about it).

We’re sure you’ve heard some funnier and more original excuses and we’d like to create the longest ever page of excuses on the World Wide Web. If you’ve got a funny one, let’s all hear it. E-mail us at…
